Quantitative Analysis | Sydney, AUS

This is a clip from a problem solving course, "Quantitative Analysis" Jason facilitated with a class of Professional Service Consultants in Sydney, Australia.

Jason used the Rubik's Cube as an example of a problem that has 100% possibility of solving, but the probability relies heavily on many other variables.

This a an example of an effective attention grabbing technique with instructional delivery. You must get the audience's attention before you can keep their attention.

Build Your App Development Team!

Cabrini University

This is an elearning module Jason designed for a business course at Cabrini University (PA).

The objective of the course is to give the learner an interactive experience, conducting interviews with a number of different employees at their 'fictional' business. They have been tasked with leading a team in the development of a new mobile App for their business, and they must select their app development team members carefully, based on criteria the students are learning outside of this module.

This is a fantastic example of how, if done right, the marriage of Articulate Storyline 360 and GoAnimate can result in a fun, interactive, heavily video-based learning experience.

Also a great example of Storyline 360 used to almost it's full extent of features to deliver the final output, including complex Variables, States, and Layers.

Design tools used:

  • Articulate Storyline (360)

  • GoAnimate (13 custom animated videos)

  • Adobe Audition for character voice-over recording and editing, as well as sound effects

  • Techsmith SnagIt for video image capturing

  • Freesound.org for many of the custom sound effects

Conscientiousness in Leadership
Cabrini University

This is another creative eLearning experience created as part of a Leadership program for students at Cabrini University.

This customized 'Choose Your Character' design is good example of how Variables can be used to create a more personalized learning experience for the Learner.

It also incorporates some simple gamification using a scoring slider that is populated throughout the course based on the Learner's choices.

ISA (International Society of Automation)

The International Society of Automation <www.isa.org> is a nonprofit professional association that sets the standard for those who apply engineering and technology to improve the management, safety, and cybersecurity of modern automation and control systems used across industry and critical infrastructure.

Individuals and companies rely on ISA to deliver standards-based, vendor-neutral, hands-on training via instructor-led, online, and in-plant courses delivered by industry veterans.

This eLearning module is one of many that Jason and his company, Apropos Learning, developed for ISA's Industrial Data Communications Systems online training program.

This was a massive eLearning development project and a true collaboration of instructional design talent and support across multiple business partners. The program as a whole (all 32 modules) consists of over 700 total interactive and professionally narrated eLearning slides.

Apropos Learning (Jason) owned the final eLearning development for 13 of the 32 total modules, leveraging the Articulate 360 platform to create the final learning output; slide builds, animation, images and graphics, knowledge checks and module tests, and professional narration editing and integration.

This module focuses on WAN (Wide Area Network) Applications, and is a great example of turning very technical subject matter into a captivating and impactful learning experience.

Design tools Jason used:
  • Articulate Storyline (360): Primary course development platform

  • Adobe Audition for audio narration edits and enhancement

  • Adobe Photoshop for image layering and editing

  • Techsmith SnagIt for image capture and editing

  • DropBox for real-time cloud collaboration with client

  • Microsoft Word for detailed storyboarding

This is another eLearning module Jason and his company, Apropos Learning, developed for ISA's Industrial Data Communications Systems online training program.

See additional project detail above--eLearn 03: WAN Applications

Jason again leveraged the Articulate 360 software platform to create the final learning output; slide builds, animation, images and graphics, knowledge checks and module tests, and professional narration editing and integration.

This module focuses on TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), which is a set of networking protocols that has become the networking standard that allows two or more computers (or 'things') to communicate across a network.

This Storyline course is another example of turning very technical subject matter into a self-paced, interactive learning experience using a lot of animated visuals synchronized with a descriptive and engaging narrative.

Data Loss Prevention

Byline Bank

This is a corporate HR eLearning course Jason designed recently for Byline Bank. The client had lost all of the original source files for a course they had developed to create awareness with their employees on Data Loss Prevention. They had a lot of updates, and no way to do it without source files.

Jason was able to use Articulate Storyline 360 alongside a few other 'magic' tools to not only bring the training back to life, but make it significantly better than the original.

The result was a completely overhauled, upgraded version of the eLearning course with all source files delivered to the client. And a very happy client!

It is a great example of traditional slide content and voice over, transformed into a much more engaging and impactful learning experience using a creative combination of Storyline Layers, States, and complex Variables.

Design tools used:

Articulate Storyline (360)

Adobe Audition

Techsmith SnagIt
